About The Crow’s Nest
The Crow’s Nest is a space for collision to fall in its natural order. Where mind, bodies, souls and arts come together in free expression to set its pure mark in a nest with collected treasures. It aims to invite expressionists existing within and beyond the peripheries of visual and digital art. The Crow’s Nest is a platform for interdisciplinary artists to rest, expand and express through their mediums. It envisions itself as a radical movement of collaborative games, breaking barriers of language and culture, presence in form of embodiment and sustainability through awareness in its purest essence. It is an attempt to connect artists, working, researching and struggling in their isolated environments, back to their habitats, a community formed from depths of natural elements.
In its physical form, The Crow’s Nest is built from reused and reclaimed materials, mosaics, and other bunch of not-so random objects. In its digital form, The Crow’s Nest is a platform to promote alternative visual art and connect such artists on a common platform.
About The Founder
Andrea Aarstad is a self-taught visual artist from Norway. Her practice is rooted primarily in painting. Working intuitively between abstraction and figuration, she explores themes of perception, identity, transformation, and the emotional landscapes of human existence. Her work has been presented in seven solo exhibitions. Her extensive period spent in Nepal and India have significantly influenced her artistic perspective, deepening her interest in symbolism, nature, and cross cultural dialogue.
Alongside painting she works with writing and has recently begun expanding her practice through material experimentation, exploring the relationship between painting, digital art, textile, and installations. Her upcoming solo exhibition, Mosaic and Scrambled Eggs continues her investigation into the mind landscape of transformation, fragmentation, and reconstruction.
